Exide Technologies Plant Controller in Charlottesville, Virginia
The Plant Controller will be responsible for exercising financial control and directing the product fulfillment of all charger and charger related products from Exide’s assembly plant in Charlottesville, VA. They will direct, manage, and optimize the overall charger assembly operation.
Responsible for purchasing, quality, production and financials for the charger assembly operations
Oversee staff, create and manage budgets and supervise operations of a local business unit
Oversee day-to-day operation including sales order processing, build scheduling, purchasing and production
Design strategy and set goals for profit growth
Evaluate and improve business financial performance through cost reduction and efficiency improvements
Prepare regular financial reports for upper management
Set policies and make decisions guiding productivity, quality, and efficiency of plant operations.
Directs plant level support functions including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources to ensure alignment with overall plant operations.
Work closely with the engineering, production and purchasing departments to insure creation and maintenance of an accurate BOM for all products within the company’s MRP system (MiSYS).
Ensure that this information will allow orders to pass smoothly through from sales order entry to material planning, manufacture and shipment
Use the MRP system for accurate planning and control of inventory
Direct cycle counts on various items in the inventory on a routine basis to insure proper stocking levels
Purchase inventory parts based on demand forecast in the MiSYS MRP system
Secures and analyzes quotations; negotiates prices and terms with suppliers; and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities
Schedule departments in the plant to satisfy the demand of customers or forecast
Monitor shipping reports and expedite rush shipments
Collaborate with Corporate Supply Chain in order to forecast production needs
Perform inventory control, reconciliation and journal entry preparation at month end
Assist with monthly close to ensure complete, timely and accurate financial data process
Maintain internal control; coordinate and assist internal audit
Analyze financial reports as needed and report findings to senior management
Collaborate with Corporate Procurement for Direct/Indirect/ and CapEx spend
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management or Engineering Degree with MBA
Experience in cost accounting, fiscal planning, budgeting and financial reporting of a manufacturing entity
Minimum 3 years relevant working experience obtained in an electronics manufacturing environment
Operations, purchasing and production planning experience with ERP/MRP Software
Experience with bills of materials and routings for electronic assemblies
Experience in inventory monitoring and control
Experience with electrical, electronic and mechanical drawings and assemblies
Experience with production documentation and methods of measure and control
Experience with JDE, QuickBooks and MiSYS software desired
COMPETENCES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE:
Highly motivated individual with good oral and written communication and presentation skills
Ability to interface with all levels of employees and customers
Excellent computer skills including use of Word, Excel, Access, and other software
Initiative and willingness to take on multiple projects
