Manage Human Resources, Production, Quality and Continuous Improvement
Organize the unit operations of Furnace, Refining, Casting, Shipping and Receiving, Yard, Slag Processing, & Battery Breaker.
Coordinate manpower, materials, and supplies for all production and finishing areas to ensure the achievement of production & shipping goals.
Maintain safe working conditions and practices. Operate the facility in a manner that is consistent and in compliance with all federal and state regulations, i.e. OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, etc.
Review results from the various unit operations to reduce costs, increase equipment availability/efficiency, and ensure product quality.
Develop reports and attend meetings to promote open communication between plant personnel.
Collaborate with Engineering/maintenance Manager on periodic plant rebuilds and to improve equipment availability. '
Collaborate with Environmental Manager on all matters concerning federal and state regulatory authorities, i.e. permits, notice of violations, etc.
Collaborate with Management on all matters associated with product quality.
Assist subordinates in the accomplishment of their business objectives and their efforts to develop themselves technically and professionally.
Evaluate subordinates performance and periodic ally review results. Assist employees to help them meet objectives, performance standards, quality, housekeeping and all areas of their responsibilities.
Recommend salary merit and promotion increases for his direct reports, which are within established salary ranges for each position.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, Mining, Physics, preferred
10 years’ progressive management experience in pyro metallurgical or material processing based business.
Exceptional communication skills.
Demonstrated and experienced in Lean, ISO, and TPS Processes
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be frequently exposed to fumes, dust, airborne particles, and extreme heat and humidity.
While much work will be performed in an office setting, significant time will be required in the manufacturing facility, where additional exposure is likely.
Noise levels in the manufacturing facility are usually high.
All employees are required to wear full face respirators inside the manufacturing facility. Qualified candidates must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb with minimal effort.
Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
