Exide Technologies Manager, IT Infrastructure in Milton, Georgia


Exide is seeking a strong Hands-On IT Infrastructure Manager with technical skills across multiple disciplines responsible for managing day-to-day infrastructure and operations activities. The role would require a combination of technical hands-on (70%) expertise with managerial focus (30%) on delivery & support of North America IT services. Has a proven track record in leading architecture, design, development and operations of enterprise datacenter hosting, products and services in a high performance and high-availability environment.

The Infrastructure Manager will work within the North America (NA) team and be responsible for all IT Infrastructure components & facilities at the Milton Global Headquarters and all North America locations including datacenters, plants, and distribution centers including sales offices.

This will include supervising and monitoring the day to day operations to ensure the local servers & storage devices / network devices and IT infrastructure are running smoothly. This will include IT Asset / Vendor and VoIP/Collaboration/Mail administration.

The role also coordinates with Network resources for the maintenance and troubleshooting of the deployed local network including peripheral items directly or indirectly associated with the local infrastructure. The role will also be required to work with Compliance to ensure proper procedures and security measures are put in place to meet business requirements.

The NA Infrastructure Manager reports to the Global Infrastructure Operations Director and provides guidance on actions that are part of the North America IT strategy.


  • Ensure all Infrastructure components to include Server/Storage/VOIP/Network are fully operational at all times by taking reactive and proactive actions to mitigate risks.

  • Responsible for management & Upkeep of primary and disaster recovery datacenters located in North America.

  • Develop KPI Metrics to show uptime for Infrastructure components.

  • Assist in developing an enterprise security strategy to ensure all critical Infrastructure components are protected from potential breaches.

  • Support the North American Infrastructure Teams on related projects, which are being rolled out globally, or across North America.

  • Occasional travel to the other sites within North America or 2nd corporate HQ in Europe to complete any necessary IT system work and end user support

  • Ensure all tasks given via the Global Infrastructure group or initiated via the helpdesk are carried through to completion following ITIL methodology.

  • Provide reactive support to all end users by addressing assigned help desk incidents on Infrastructure related issues from own knowledge

  • Provide operational support for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment, such as servers, printers, storage devices, mobile devices, network devices and VoIP or Collaboration solution

  • Liaise, setup and support remote users connectivity

  • Support and administer the VoIP infrastructure across all locations in North America

  • Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support on the Infrastructure scope including manufacturing & supply chain infrastructure

  • Accomplishes information technology staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures

  • Understands IT business objectives and works with business to meet them

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks

  • Manages and coordinates the IT Infrastructure Budget and Contractors for North America. This includes providing status reports showing actual spend versus budget and periodic activity reports

  • Will be the single point of presence for infrastructure related vendor management, including meeting coordination and contract reviews

  • Travel - 10-20% Domestic & Internationally


  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university

  • 8 or more years of increasing responsibility within the area of infrastructure or previous Team Lead experience preferred.

  • ITIL Certification preferred

  • Google certifications preferred

  • Microsoft Certifications required

  • VMware VCP Preferred

  • Amazon Web Service (AWS) Solution Architect huge plus

Infrastructure, Network and Management Skills:

  • Experience with Virtualization: VMWare/HyperV/AWS

  • Experience with Datacenter Moves and or buildouts.

  • Experience moving on prem hosting environment to Cloud environments like AWS/Azure.

  • Technical experience at to include architecture, hands on system administration of Servers/Network Devices.

  • Technical understanding of existing environment and make value added recommendations

  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in an IT support environment, networking or Manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Good working knowledge of current Windows Operating Systems, switches, LAN environments and Cloud services (i.e. AWS, Google)

  • Problem Solving both inside and outside the box thinking

  • Customer service oriented

  • Quality Management of services provided and have a continuous improvement plan

  • Sense of urgency

  • Proactively monitors environment for issues and improvement opportunities

  • Incident handling for site wide critical issues

  • Proven track record of troubleshooting hardware and software issues

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and methodically

  • Able to manage a project, internal/external contractors team, vendors, budget and initiatives

  • Develop management skills and establish close relationship with Level 2 & Level 3 Infrastructure group & Outsourced service providers.

  • Experience working in a global Manufacturing environment is a plus
